It was learned from Beijing Higher People’s Court that over the past three years, the courts in Beijing handled 24,600 IPR administrative cases and about 72,000 related civil cases. The Court released Several Opinions on Strengthening IPR Adjudication to Promote the Innovation-driven Development, in an effort to build Beijing courts into the best platform for IPR dispute settlement.

　　Composed of 37 articles in seven parts, the Opinions set forth the rules and requirements for adjudication over the cases related to technologies of innovation-driven development and propose the specific measures to break the barriers hindering the development of IPR adjudication. Meanwhile, the issues of unifying the judicial standards, improving the judgment expertise, building a professional trial team and expanding the adjudication functions are also under regulation and guidance in the Opinions.

　　Statistics indicated that over the past three years, Beijing courts handled a total of 24,600 IPR administrative cases, with 12% of the parties involved located in Beijing; 72,000 IPR civil cases, with 78% of the parties involved located in Beijing. These cases drew wide attention from the public and their trial results played a guiding role for industrial or sectoral development.
