(Summary description)  The State Council Information Office (SCIO) organized the Press Conference on China IP Developments in 2021 on April 24 in Beijing. China National Intellectual Property Administration Commissioner Shen Changyu gave a general introduction to the press, and was joined later by his deputy He Zhimin and Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee's copyright chief Wang Zhicheng to field questions. The event was moderated by Shou Xiaoli, Deputy Director General and Spokeswoman of SCIO.   Shen said that IP-related administrations, in the past year, had been working diligently on the project of building an IP powerhouse country and were seeing palpable results, setting a solid start for the 14th five-year plan period. CNIPA granted a total 696,000 invention patents for the year while high-value invention patents owned by per 10,000 population registered at 7.5 examples. In the 2021 Global Innovation Index, released by the World Intellectual Property Organization, China was No.12, moving up the ranks for the ninth straight year. The index of public satisfaction over IP protection climbed further to 80.61 points. Newly revised patent law and copyright law entered into force. The total import and export value of IP royalties was 378.3 billion yuan, 76.02 billon yuan of which was from export, up 27.1% year-on-year.
