SIPO Held Bilateral Talks with WIPO, PPO & INAPI


  During the Shanghai International IP Forum held on November 17 and 18, SIPO Commissioner Shen Changyu held bilateral talks with the leaders of WIPO, Polish Patent Office (PPO) and National Institute of Industrial Property Ministry of Economy of Chile (INAPI).

  When meeting with WIPO Deputy Director General Wang Binying, Assistant Director General Minelik Alemu Getahun who in charge of IGC, Shen briefed them on the overall status of China's IP field and latest development of IP work. Shen stressed that, with the development of globalization, the international IP system is facing more and more issues and challenges. It needs countries to improve collaboration and effective countermeasures. China is willing to participate in and promote the developments of WIPO Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources,Traditional Knowledge and Folklore (IGC) and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

  Wang Binying expressed appreciation to Shen for SIPO's contribution to the form and China's commitment in respecting IPR and outstanding achievements in IPR. She hopes to get strong support and full participation from China in promoting the establishment of international system of genetic resources, traditional knowledge and folklore.

  When meeting with PPO President Alicja Adamczak, Shen said that China and Poland have profound traditional friendship and IP cooperation foundation. Shen appreciated the efforts Alicja Adamczak made for the IP cooperation between the two countries. Shen wishes to take this opportunity to deepen bilateral cooperation and jointly provide professional, high-quality and convenient IP services to users of the two countries.

  Alicja Adamczak reviewed her participation in the High Level Conference on IP for Countries Along the "Belt and Road", which gave her deep impression. She appreciated the efforts China made in elevating IP cooperation among related countries, hoping to push the cooperation level between the two countries to a new high.

  When meeting with INAPI President Maximiliano Santa Cruz, Shen said that SIPO and INAPI have maintained a sound cooperation relationship. He hopes to launch PPH project as soon as possible and continue to strengthen cooperation on staff training and data exchange on the current basis.

  Maximiliano Santa Cruz said that as the communication and trade between the two countries becomes more and more frequent, both of the two countries saw increases in the patent applications filed by applicants from each other. Chile hopes to further strengthen IP cooperation with China and jointly make contributions in pushing forward S&T innovation and social and economic development in the two countries.
